MAKING ESG A PRIORITY

At Eichholtz we believe that sustainability requires long-term commitment and constant nurturing

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) has been important to us since our founder, Theo Eichholtz, observed that the quality and timelessness of antiques meant they were reused for generations. But embracing ESG is a significant challenge. We believe that change must be pragmatic to be achievable. We also believe that, once we make the change, our improvements will cascade throughout our supply chain, and influence the industry to change too. Outlined below are the six priority areas identified for the short- to mid-term as part of our ESG journey.

SIX KEY THEMES AS THE FOCUS FOR ESG

• Energy and carbon
Employee health and safety
• Supply chain control and business ethics
• Fair labour practices
• Product and packaging sustainability
• Product quality and safety

All work in these areas starts at our headquarters and is expanded out to our suppliers and distribution network over time. We have changed lighting and vehicles to reduce energy consumption and we are improving our own employees’ conditions ready for future expansion. Our supply lines are being scrutinised for carbon reduction opportunities, including changes to warehousing and distribution. We are demanding fair labour practices from our suppliers and using audits and other methods to ensure the demands are met. Finally, we are redesigning products and packaging with more reusable components.
